Pre Production Report

My company have planned out what we need for my short film, the facilities, the equipment, the location, the crew roles and the finance and we are producing a report to explain everything that is needed for our short film, which is going to be entered for the film festivals. The short film I am going to be producing is called 'The devil within'. This film is going to be 1 minute long. My role is the pre-production manager. Because my short film isn't public company I will be funding it myself and the source I will be using is Kickstarter. I will be talking about how I am going to fund my short film and the scheduling times and what I need to do for my short film to be a success.

A type of production: The type of production is a short film which has the genre of a horror. This production requires a crew, a script, a storyboard, specific locations, props such as; make up blood, cameras and lights.

Finance: Film producers get their finance through different ways. One of the ways is through their own savings; this benefits them in the long term if their film makes profit successfully. Another way is through investors investigating on a certain part of the money that needs to be paid back after being helpful to produce their movie. For my production I wouldn't need to provide a big amount of money because most of the materials that I will be using will be provided by my college. My only input in money wise would be to provide food for my actors and that will be paid with my personal savings. The transport is already established because I and my actors all have free travel oyster cards. Another way I’m going to be financing my short film is through Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a company that help people with their film ideas and gives them a starter to invest on. The reason why I am using Kickstarter is because it's the quickest and easiest way to earn money for producers like myself on their short films. The other way I could raise money for my short film is through charity, also I could earn money through the government. The way to do this is that I would need to sign up for a grant, which is money that you can receive from the government for your business. He advantages to this is that I would have to pay grant back and I would lose control over my business however I would have to find a specific gran ha suits my business well and also there is a lot of competition. However the ways I am choosing to finance my short film is from my own personal savings and through Kickstarter because these are two easiest ways to earn money. As I am production manager I would have to organise and know how much things cost but the cameras and lighting will be for free because that would be provided by my college. However in the real world this is what they would cost.
Budget Requirements: the costs to everything I will be needing for my short film will be below

Cameras - Are from £93.99 up to £32,549.46. I would have to purchase one camera as I’m using a single camera to shoot my short film. However in this case I will be booking a camera from my college for free.

Lights and microphone - £54.99-£183.64 for both lights and microphone. It would cost £500 per day to hire a camera man who would sometimes bring their equipment and sometimes not. In this case I wouldn't need to hire anyone because I will be shooting my short film myself and with members from my production team, also there will be voice overs of my actors voices being recorded over the videos and I will be filming in daylight for parts of my film and for the dark scenes we will use lighting and also a flash light for props to create more suspense.

Editing Suites - These suits can cost £500 per day/hour but in this case I will be using the editing suite that is provided in college.

Talent - to hire talent/talents will cost £500-700, however I will be using my colleagues who take drama as a course, because they will be more professional and they won't ask for any pay.

Crew - In order to hire a crew for a short film it would usually cost more than £5, 100. For my short film we will be in a group of 4 and we will split the jobs between us.

Facility hire - the experience to rent an edit suit to have videos edited will cost around £550 per day. In this case I will be using the schools editing suit for free.

Materials:
Clearance is paying for copyrighted materials to be used e.g. Music tracks/sounds. Every time a copyrighted material is shown on another shoe the owner of the material gets paid a certain amount of money in order for them to use their material, which ranges from £50 upwards depends on how much was negotiated. Because of the fact this is a college project we won't have to pay for the use of other sound tracks, however for my short film my plan was to create my own original sounds due to the fact myself and the people in my group know how to use Logic Pro X. Also we have access to non-copyrighted sound tracks from YouTube which is free to download. Because getting a non-copyrighted sound track from YouTube is easier and quicker that is what I’m going to do. The scripts and storyboards will be already provided for us as template we can download and use to fill in.

Equipment/Facilities: Equipment such as cameras, lights and other things can be booked for free form the college.  But in a real life situation it will cost around £1000 to get a camera man alone cost around 500 pounds that's half of the money gone already therefore it's not cheap. Post- production equipment: edit suite can be booked for £550 a day and this suites will contain macs which will run the software Final cut x which is the software that will be used to edit our shots. I will be using the editing suites in school as they have free access. Clearance is paying for copyrighted materials to used e.g. music tracks/ sounds. For every time a copyrighted material is shown on another show the owner of the material gets paid a certain amount of money in order for them to use their material, which ranges from £50 upwards depends on how much was negotiated. Because of the fact this is a college project we won't have to pay for the use of other sound track, however for my web serial my plan is to create my own original sounds due to the fact I and most people know how to use Logic Pro X. Also we have access to non-copyrighted sound from YouTube which is a free download and example of this will be below.

Location: The majority of our shots will be filmed in a local area, so around Sidcup/Kent and we will need a permit from the Kent council in order to film in particular places, in order to do this I will need to collect a location release form from the local council to fill out and sign and that would be my evidence to show that I have permission to film on certain grounds. My short film is a horror therefore the director will need to find me an isolated location in the forest where the scenery is good to intense scenes. Then the director will give his research to the producer and then the producer will decide if the scenery is suitable for the short film that is being made. When the weather is not suitable we have two options, we can either use the weather to set a mood in the series or film it in that condition or edit the footage to make it look better and clearer. The location of where we are going to shoot the footage won't be far from the crew member’s houses. Most materials will be provided by my college but the rest will be coming out of my personal savings and will be booked of a booking company for a certain period of time.

Crew roles and Personnel: The availability of personnel I'm going to be doing this project with 2 or 3 other people so the roles of the production will be split amongst us, for actors we will be gathering talents from our college and outside our college that take a drama course. However in the real world auditions will be taken place to act in my short film and this will cost the production crew money as they will have to rent out a location in order for the auditions to take place. The people I will be hiring will be listed below:
  • A camera man who will be in charge of the camera and responsible for the filming
  • Editor who will edit and put shot in order from the camera in to a story
  • Sound Engineer who will be in charge of the sound from the ambient sound to non-ambient sound
  • Director who will direct the whole plot and I will be the producer
  • Camera operator which will be in charge of the storyboard of the short film.
To hire a camera man it starts from £250 for half a day.
A director costs from £100
A producer is £100

Here's an image of how much a shot film would cost.
However for a full featured film it would cost a lot more and here is an example of a slide show someone has made to show the prices.
I've been put in a group of 4 and we have our own roles that we have to follow. My role is the production manager and camera operator which creates the storyboard. I was given this job because I am the most talented and I know how to use the rule of thirds. My job is to read over the script, go to the location and take pictures of how the story would go. Within this I would have to use long shots, close ups, extreme close ups and other camera techniques. The person that was chosen to be the producer is because that person is the most organised therefore he will be calling up our locations that we want and asking if we can film there, he also needs to organise our crew roles, risk assessment, budget, call sheet, release forms and permissions and clearances. He was also given this job because he get things done on time. The person that was chosen to have to role of a director was given that role because he is the most creative in the group therefore his role is too write the script and line the script. Also he has to do the location recee, get the props, costume and masks, the shooting schedule. As a production manager I will make sure everything is up to quality standards.

Contributors: As well as having my production team I would still need other roles contribute. The roles I already have and that are going to contribute are the producer, the director and the camera operator. Also the other contributes will be my actors that we be selected carefully also they would be already taking a drama course therefore my film will look more professional because my actors study drama. Before they act in my short film I will need them to sign a release and consent agreement form to say that I have permission to film them and to have their face on camera. If they get filmed and then decide they don't want their image in on camera it would have a big effect on us because certain scenes would have to be taken out or be re-shot or faces would have to be blurred out and this would mean that our film is no longer going to be able to be broadcast.

Codes of practice and regulation:
In order for my short film to become successful we would have to have regulations such as in the location area I would need to have evidence therefore I would need the release permission form to be filmed in and signed by the owner of that location to show that I can film on their grounds; that form would also have to be on their site, also I would need to take pictures and videos of the location I am filming at. I would also the documents and forms from my actors to have their permission to film them. I would need to show evidence that I know about the health and safety rules before I begin anything. Public liability is also another thing to look into because as our production starts members of the public may be captured in our shots, however because this is a college project my college already has public liability insurance for my production work. Because of the fact some scenes are filmed in a public area, no fake weapons will be allowed such as guns and knives, also no brutal horrific fight scenes will be allowed because we will be in a public environment. Unless we have at least two police officers watching us shoot the scene but then they would have to block off the whole road in order for us to film that scene therefore we would need permission to do this as well. If the council would allow us to do this the BBFC would rate my film to be an 18, however if we are not allowed then certain violent scenes would have to be cut out therefore the film wouldn't be as violent then that would affect our rating; the BBFC would then rate my film as a 15 because it has less brutal and gory scenes. Also rate cards is how much they pay. Below will be an image of a rate card. The image below shows how much each person gets paid for their job.

Time: This part of the media industry is very important, time and scheduling is everything in the media world. It's all important because you have deadlines to meet and if you don't meet the deadlines you would have to spend more money, For an example if you have booked a editing suit for 2 days which is £1,000 and your deadline was to finish editing the videos within those 2 days given but you haven't finished and you need an extra day you have to pay another £500 and then everything else will have to be pushed forward; different deadlines will have to be made and it will waste a good amount of time and money. The most time I will be filming is on weekends as I am occupied within the week and so are my actors because we have college. One week would be a good amount of filming time and editing time considering we can get some done within our spare hours. The extra props my college wouldn't supply for us, it will be coming out of my personal savings but they will be at a cheap price. The first day we will be focusing on getting the props ready and the actors ready; making sure everyone knows their role and what everyone is doing. Also we will be deciding on our location. Then this will lead on to the second day where will be getting our equipment ready such as our cameras and lighting in order for us to start filming on the third and fourth day. Then the fifth day will be us editing our footage and once that is done we can release our film allowing us to reach our deadline on time. The days we are filming would start at 9:00am and finish at 4:00pm which is not too early because it will still be too dark and it's not too late because we won't have as much energy as we would have in the morning and for the editing we will need a whole day to edit our short film. As production manager I will make sure everything is up to standards and make sure all deadlines are met.

Conclusion
In conclusion considering we only have 1-2 to shoot our film I’m going to make sure everything is organised and ready in time such as the equipment; the main thing we need is a camera therefore we will book our camera a couple days before we start shoot considering our media class is big and most of us want to shoot on the same day. I'm also going to get all documents done as well, therefore everything will be ready so we can hit the deadline.

Final Proposal

Introduction
The purpose of this report is to self-off my pitch and to express the idea to producers to get the film made. From my research I can see horror short films don't the amount of views thriller short films receives. I also know that females watch horror/thriller movies more than men because they like the suspense and the build-up more than men do.

My short film idea
The name of my short film is called 'The demon within' and the genre of it is a horror.
It will be set up in the middle of the forest, where a man called Adrian killed his wife Shantelle and their child Nicholas and he buried them in the forest. The hook of my short film is the image in an unknown house. The twist at the end is that the neighbour possessed Adrian to kill his family because the neighbour was obsessed with Shantelle and their baby. Shantelle rejected the neighbour therefore the neighbour thought if he can't have her no one can, therefore he possessed Adrian to kill his family.

Hook: The image of the family

Twist: The neighbour possessed Adrian to kill his wife and child

My idea was mainly influenced by SAW, however there are a few other movies that inspired me into doing my idea such as Final destination and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Influences

SAW influenced my idea because in the middle of this clip two men both wake up in place they don't know with their feet chained to and at the beginning of my short film the wife and her child have been tied back to back. The whole idea of the characters waking up in an unknown place is creepy within itself and being trapped by being chained to poles is intense, therefore I thought for my idea they could all be tied up not by chains but by ropes and they wake up in the middle of the forest. Also because it’s an open ending therefore it always leaves the audience in shock and with a cliff hanger. This also shows that my short film will have a twist at the end that surprises the audience.
                - The reason why I highlighted this is because it’s important that I add a twist to my short film because it's the trends and it's a good to leave the audience shock by a surprise.  Because of this the short film will be more interesting because of the fact it will engage the audience's attention.

The nightmare Elm Street inspired me as well at 3.25 because Freddie Kruger killed people for his revenge and the demon in my short film kills the teenagers to get revenge on them killing him. Also the fact that you can't actually see him killing her gives off a possessed effect which I added into my short film to add more suspense. This also proves that I will be having flashbacks of the teenagers killing the man before he became a demon. -The reason why I highlighted this is because it's important to add flash forwards or flashbacks to show that my short film is non-linear. Because of this the short film will be more interesting.
Final destination also influenced me because it had one person that could see what was going to happen a couple min into the future and that everyone is going to die. In my short film the wife has this ability and that will allow me to have flash forwards in my short film. - The reason why I highlighted this is because it's important to add flash forwards or flashbacks to show that my short film is non-linear. Because of this the short film will be more interesting.

Unique selling point
My unique selling point is that my idea is based on a real life situation. It's based on an article about a woman called Sian Blake her partner, Arthur Simpson killed her and her their two children, Zachary and Amon. The family was reported missing on 16th December 2015. Another unique selling point is that I have a possessed and an obsessed ability in one character. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrs-uWUlwRYUeahxmVD7W4UPlkc5Wg9-4eFhHFIsnD3hDVXgTv5gHzbheLhugm4r3YMiZ8mqoByiMECLla7GFgZQu064s3ME2RNslBHZrsmT21TN3qTYeH1ag1UATz9uKoDCEIg2DIO7Q/s400/Screen+Shot+2016-02-12+at+10.12.55.png

Trends
I've noticed that the trends with a horror film is a twist at the end a good hook and a strong beginning. The reason why it has to have a strong beginning is because you have to capture the audience attention therefore they won't be bored and they will carry on watching. Also a twist at the end is to capture the audience and attention and surprise the audience therefore I’m putting a twist at the end of my short film.

Box office and reviews
This shows the box office of SAW. The reason why I picked this film is because it fits well with my idea to do with torture and to also show what will be expected in the box office if I was to show this in the cinema

This will be the original price for my short film if I was going to pay for everything I needed in order to create my short film. In this case I wouldn't be needing to hire an editing room, or pay for my actors. I will only need to pay for transport and food which will cost around £25 and I would have to pay for props and make up which will also cost around £25. The cameras I will be needing will be provided by my college, the equipment I need to set up the lighting will be provided by my college and the facilities I will need such as, a mac to edit my short film, will be provided by my college. Therefore my short film will actually cost around £50.

Examples of what Kickstarter has funded

The short film is called love stinks and it's a comedy which has been shot in Canada and they funded 85% of it with $5,106. 46 backers and it has 24 days left.

The short film is called 'MNSTR'. The location is in New York and they funded 119% into it with $16,176 with 54 backers and only 3 days left.
And these are a few more examples. This proves that Kickstarter would help me with my short film

Kickstarter would benefit me and my movie because it will help me take a step further on getting my film seen. Kickstarter doesn't just help film makers, they also help artists, musicians, designers and other creators to support their ideas.

Kickstarter is an enormous global community built around creativity and creative projects. Over 10 million people, from every continent on earth, have backed a Kickstarter project.
Some of those projects come from influential artists like De La Soul or Marina Abramović. Most come from amazing creative people you probably haven’t heard of — from Grandma Pearl to indie filmmakers to the band down the street.
Every artist, filmmaker, designer, developer, and creator on Kickstarter has complete creative control over their work — and the opportunity to share it with a vibrant community of backers.
“Kickstarter is one of those platforms that gives you space to work with people who know you, love you, and support you.”
— De La Soul
Our mission.
We built Kickstarter to help bring creative projects to life. We measure our success as a company by how well we achieve that mission, not by the size of our profits. That’s why, in 2015, we became a Benefit Corporation. Benefit Corporations are for-profit companies that are obligated to consider the impact of their decisions on society, not only shareholders. Radically, positive impact on society becomes part of a Benefit Corporation’s legally defined goals.
When we became a Benefit Corporation, we amended our corporate charter to lay out specific goals and commitments to arts and culture, making our values core to our operations, fighting inequality, and helping creative projects come to life. You can read our commitments in full below.
Since our launch, on April 28, 2009, 10 million people have backed a project, $2.2 Billion has been pledged, and 99,648projects have been successfully funded.
Our team.
We're an independent, founder-controlled company of 134 people working together in an old pencil factory in New York City. We spend our time designing and building Kickstarter, connecting people around inspiring creative projects, and having a lot of fun doing it.
We’re developers, designers, support specialists, writers, musicians, painters, poets, gamers, robot-builders — you name it. Between us, we’ve backed more than 34,000 projects (and launched plenty of our own).
Our history.
Kickstarter launched on April 28, 2009. A lot has happened since.
We had the craziest 24 hours ever. We saw $1 billion get pledged. We shared the early designs behind Kickstarter. We learned what a Kickstarter project looked like back in 1713. We talked about why Kickstarter matters. We made some important changes to how we govern the site. We put on film festivals in 2011201220132014, and 2015. A project won an Oscar. And after five years, we made a video about it all.
Our story,
as told by founder Perry Chen
“I was living in New Orleans in late 2001 and I wanted to bring a pair of DJs down to play a show during the 2002 Jazz Fest. I found a great venue and reached out to their management, but in the end the show never happened—it was just too much money...

If you’re writing about Kickstarter or covering a Kickstarter project, head this way to find background material, press contacts, and visual assets.
“It’s the best way to connect with people who can truly help you. There’s a class of people called ‘early adopters’, but Kickstarter backers are so much earlier than that!”
— Lisa Fetterman
Let’s bring more creativity into the world.
Every Kickstarter project is an opportunity to create the universe and culture you want to see. The games you wish you could play, the films you wish you could watch, the technology you wish someone was building — on Kickstarter, people work together to make those things a reality.
Take a look around: right this minute, thousands of people are funding their creative ideas. Feel like joining them?

Distribution
My short film will be distributing or shown at a short film festival and it can also be shown on Netflix and YouTube.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ4gjSrnEMD-zNBmnxxgaQzji1PezwjyGX5ql4rrjthZRsM-HMzo2WtVnFONFWNhHjpcIRtNZ039H4rRFVyJPV_A8PPJEPdb4w0D5w8WuyQ4soxxOi5d5QW33ZOVxweXvDbMFegkGmz3c/s320/netflix.jpgThe way I can get my movie onto Netflix is to try and get it onto Netflix database, because it's not possible to email someone who works for Netflix or within the company and ask. However if your movie isn't picked it wouldn't be able to go on the Netflix database. Netflix database is a long list of movies that Netflix chooses from for them to go on its homepage. The good chances of getting your film onto the the Netflix database is if you take of a distributor that has access to the important roads your need to go down, however it is really hard to do so. On the other hand it is possible to do. There is a distributors company which is owned by IndieGoGo that would help you to get your film seen on Netflix, but not just Netflix other services such as Distribber. The fee for Distribber is $1,600 however all the money that your movie makes you will receive 100% of it all and still have all your rights to your movie.
If you make it to the Netflix database you need to show that your independent movie is worthy therefore you need to create an army. The public need to queue in your movie by requesting it which is called queue demand. Therefore you would need to ask everyone to do this so your movie receives the most amount of requests. It depends on the amount of demands you get, the bigger the amount the more of a chance your film will be considered streaming through Netflix. Also to better your chances of getting your film on Netflix you need to have a wide press coverage and a good IMDB listing.

Also I could stream my short film onto YouTube. To do this you would have to make a YouTube account and be registered to YouTube. Then you would have to go on YouTube itself and click upload. Your movie has to be MPEG for you to upload it, therefore after filming and editing your movie you would have to save it as an MPEG file. To find out if the file is an MPEG you would have to check through properties and it should say if it is or isn't. After clicking upload you would click upload video, then browse your movie and upload it and your film will be online for everyone in the public to see, watch, like and comment about it.

A short film festival is where distributes go to watch short films and see which is the best one. The short film that they are impressed with will get promoted in a particular area in the world and because of this the maker of that short film will achieve some reputation and praise and how creative they are.
The film festivals that my short horror film will be presented on are: Manchester film festival, can film festival, London film festival, Raindance film festival, Encounters international short film festival, Leeds international film festival, Aesthetics film festival at all these film festivals there will be distributes that will hopefully be impressed and then they would promote it for it to be seen.

Film regulation

If the BBFC was to regulate my short film they would give it a (15)-(18). The reason why the BBFC will rate my short film and 15 - 18 is because the short film includes Strong violence, and strong language. The reason my short film will be allowed to be rated as a 15 is because there can be strong threat and horror as long as there is no sustained focus on sadistic or sexualised threat. The reason my short film can also be aged 18 is because it contains strong horror, strong blood and gore and sustain threat. From my research I’ve noticed that the audience that mostly watch thrillers is 18+ because the intensity will be to for young children because it could cause nightmares. Another reason why females enjoy horror movies more than men is because they love the story behind it. The statics are 36% of men under the age of 35 watch thrillers. 5% of women under the age of 35 watch thrillers and 65% over 35. This is why my web serial is aimed at people who are 18-35.

What does the 15 symbol mean?
No-one under 15 is allowed to see a 15 film at the cinema or buy/rent a 15 rated video. 15 rated works are not suitable for children under 15 years of age.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/proxy/AVvXsEgE-aijy9jb8LKynby48pKtHO7YlaSVmAAVSD-EoDuXwTaV6vIjewEB6VMddecWEW45GqRThmQkgSJPc-Pqs6joSmw6Pt34hiqUd_0ewDbOTuwCISQcD4kv_NqSeZpWUM44Emi_DjAbtjAqhI0-1IP7pexeciASO9U7aQYPu-zfZE_ucRXrLqML02mUO0XPaNgzI2LEhTSr50pISHu73A=
Are there any limits on what sort of theme a work can have at 15?
No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds.
What might I see in a 15 rated film or video?
Any of the following:
·           strong violence
·          Frequent strong language (e.g. 'f***').
·           portrayals of sexual activity
·           strong verbal references to sex
·           sexual nudity
·           brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
·           discriminatory language or behaviour
·           drug taking

What does the 18 symbol mean?
Films rated 18 are for adults. No-one under 18 is allowed to see an 18 film at the cinema or buy / rent an 18 rated video. No 18 rated works are suitable for children.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/proxy/AVvXsEgLCJ1MobLqCziFx2SsOh6QZPU870STNTPXEYNHA0yWFpd4f3eC0sRJXeIpHY6-Mh32eUv5X8JER1I6hbraiWuUYqJYqZRrvTxLKqoSaIUgDQmo31TPPE99V5g0wEWNTPKumN5lguO_3XX4knIdhmpP3wQuwcJ3vwnATUXrwDuA79vHiQ193OUxOtTmAtfGRiChbWudhiUfms-7U6GUyA=
Are there any limits on what sort of theme a work can have at 18?
No theme is prohibited at 18. Adults are free to choose their own entertainment provided the material is not illegal or potentially harmful, so it is possible some themes tackled at 18 may be offensive even to some adult viewers.
What sort of issues might I find in an 18 film or video?
18 works are for adults and can contain strong issues such as:
·           very strong violence
·           frequent strong language (e.g. 'f***') and / or very strong language (e.g. ‘c***’)
·           strong portrayals of sexual activity
·           scenes of sexual violence
·           strong horror
·           strong blood and gore
·           real sex (in some circumstances)
·           discriminatory language and behaviour
The BBFC would regulate my film a 15 or an 18 because my film reaches that standard. The reason why my movie will be rated a 15 or an 18 is because it contains everything you need for it. My film will contain blood and gore, it will also include strong violence and strong horror. This is the reason why it wouldn't be regulated at any regulation under 15 because it wouldn't be suitable for that type of crowd such as U or 12. However some horror films can be shown at a 12 or a 12a but the horror sequence can’t be frequent and the short film can't be disturbing. In a U and PG filming violence would be very mild.

My film rating would be age 15 because it will contain very strong violence while their being tortured, strong horror, very bloody and gory throughout and only a little amount of strong language.

As you can see to the left is a short horror film from my research called 'The black hole', which was a thriller received 19,606,627 views with 110,964 and 'Jack' which is a horror received 349,255 and 1,585 likes. This proves thriller is more liked then horror because thriller create more suspense and mystery with numerous of jump scares whereas horror has more violence.

If the BBFC was to regulate my short film they would give it a (15)-(18)

Also as I was watching the thriller short films I saw what the viewers liked to see more in thrillers therefore I took them into to consider to put into my short film. What I saw in the thrillers were some use of montage to not make it boring therefore it could make the audience think a bit. A lot of flash forwards and flashbacks to tell the story and to show what is going on in the movie.
I also saw that the trends were the Twists at the end because it surprises the audience and leaves the audience shocked, therefore I added a twist in my short horror film to shock the audience.

SAW is one of the best horror films containing a twist and a hook.

The gender who watches horror the most is women because they like the intense moments within the film and they like the jump scares.

Budget Requirements: the costs to everything I will be needing for my web-serial will be below

Cameras - Are from £93.99 up to £32,549.46. I would have to purchase one camera as I’m using a single camera to shoot my web-serial. However in this case I will be booking a camera from my college for free.

Lights and microphone - £54.99-£183.64 for both lights and microphone. It would cost £500 per day to hire a camera man who would sometimes bring their equipment and sometimes not. In this case I wouldn't need to hire anyone because I will be shooting my web-serial myself, also there will be voice overs of my actors voices being recorded over the videos and I will be filming in daylight for most of my film and for the dark scenes will use a flash light to create more suspense.

Editing Suites - These suits can cost £500 per day/hour but in this case I will be using the editing suite that is provided in college.

Talent - to hire talent/talents will cost £500-700, however I will be using my colleagues who take drama as a course, because they will be more professional and they won't ask for any pay.

Crew - In order to hire a crew for a web series would usually cost more than £5, 100. For my web series we will be in a group of 6 and we will split the jobs between us.

Facility hire - the experience to rent an edit suit to have videos edited will cost around £550 per day. In this case I will be using the schools editing suit for free.

Budget: The cost of my film will be approximately £50
• The transport and to provide food will cost £25
• Props and makeup will cost £25
• The cameras I will need will be provides by my college
•The equipment for the lighting will be provided by my college
•The facilities I will need to use such as; a mac to edit my short film, will be provided by my college

Time
This part of the media industry is very important, time and scheduling is everything in the media world.
Two - three weeks would be a good amount of filming and editing time considering we can get some done within the week in spare hours. The extra props my college wouldn't supply will be coming out of my personal savings but they will be at a cheap price.

Materials
Clearance is paying for copyrighted materials to used e.g. music tracks/ sounds. For every time a copyrighted material is shown on another show the owner of the material gets paid a certain amount of money in order for them to use their material, which ranges from £50 upwards depends on how much was negotiated. Because of the fact this is a college project we won't have to pay for the use of other sound track, however for my web serial my plan is to create my own original sounds due to the fact I and most people know how to use Logic Pro X. Also we have access to non-copyrighted sound from YouTube which is a free download and example of this will be below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOrxwqvfD2E

In order that I have my equipment on time and to make sure I will get it I will book from advance.

Crew and personnel
The availability of personals I'm going to be doing this project with 2 or 3 other people so the roles of the production will split amongst us, for actors we will be gathering talents from our college and outside our college that also take a drama course. However in the real world auditions will be taken place to get actors and this will cost the production crew money as they will have to rent out a location in order for the auditions to take place.

The people I will be hiring will be listed below:
A camera man who will be in charge of the camera and responsible for the filming
Editor who will edit and put shot in order from the camera in to a story
Sound Engineer who will be in charge of the sound from the ambient sound to non-ambient sound
Director who will direct the whole plot and I will be the producer

Location
The majority of our shots will be filmed in a local area, so around Sidcup/Kent and we will need a permit from the Kent council in order to film in particular places, when the weather is not suitable we have two options, we can either use the weather to set a mood in the series or film it in that condition and edit the footage to make it look better and clearer. The location of where we are going to shoot the footage won't be far from the crew member’s houses.
Most materials will be provided by my college but the rest will be coming out of my personal savings and will be booked of a booking company for a certain period of time. The BBFC won't regulate my web series as thy only regulate movies and cinematic shows and theatre shows.
The location I will be shooting my short film is I’m the middle of the woods.
My short film will be distributing or shown at a short film festival and it can also be shown on Netflix.
A short film festival is where distributers go to watch short films and see which the best one is. The short film that they are impressed with will get promoted I’m a particular area I’m the world and because of this the maker of that short film will achieve some reputation and praise on how creative they are.

Facilities
Production Equipment: equipment such as cameras, lights and other things can be booked for free form the college.
